Product Description
Eye bolts, also known as sheep's-eye bolts, are U-shaped metal fasteners featuring a central through-hole and external threads. They are commonly used in lifting and hoisting operations, outdoor tents, stage equipment, and DIY projects. Their name derives from their resemblance to a sheep's eye-a circular ring with a hole in the center-offering a simple yet reliable load-bearing structure. They are typically made of stainless steel, galvanized steel, or high-strength alloy steel, offering properties such as rust resistance, tensile strength, and shear resistance.

How are eye bolts used?
Understanding their structure is essential for proper use: both ends feature standard threads (compatible with nuts for tightening), while the central ring is used for threading ropes, attaching chains, or connecting hooks.
Proper use of eye bolts requires following a four-step process: 'Selection-Positioning-Drilling-Tightening':
① Select the appropriate size based on the load; for example, an M8 eye bolt has a static load capacity of approximately 300 kg, which is halved under dynamic loads.
② Precisely mark the installation location on the load-bearing substrate (concrete, steel structure, or solid wood).
③ Drill holes using a matching drill bit; for concrete, pre-install expansion anchors; for wood, pre-drill pilot holes to prevent splitting.
④ Screw the eye bolt in until the base flange is flush with the surface, then add a flat washer + spring washer + double-locking nut. Tighten to the torque specified by the manufacturer. Never force the bolt in by hammering or apply force at an angle.
Typical Applications
- Lifting of molds, machine tools, electric motors, and gearboxes
- Lifting points for mechanical equipment, enclosures, and cabinets
- Securing lifting points for steel structures, communication towers, and billboards
- Lifting eyes for ships, port equipment, and construction machinery
- Stainless steel lifting eyes for food, medical, chemical, and coastal corrosion-resistant applications
