What does a stud look like?

Mar 11, 2026 Leave a message

A stud is a type of headless fastener featuring external threads at both ends. During assembly, one end of the stud is screwed into a component containing an internally threaded hole, while the other end passes through a component with a clearance hole; a nut is then screwed onto this end, thereby securely fastening the two components together as a single unit. This method of joining is known as stud connection, and it constitutes a form of detachable connection.

Studs are primarily utilized in situations where one of the components being joined is relatively thick, where a compact structural design is required, or where-due to the necessity for frequent disassembly-the use of standard bolts would be unsuitable.
