An anchor nut is a high-strength hex nut specifically designed for use with anchor bolts to securely fasten heavy equipment, steel structures, or building columns to concrete foundations. Its primary functions are as follows:
- Load-bearing: When tightened, the nut presses the equipment base or steel column base plate firmly against the foundation, supporting the equipment's weight, tensile forces, shear forces, and vibrations.
- Elevation Adjustment: Lower nuts are often used to fine-tune the height and levelness of equipment (leveling nuts).
- Anti-loosening and Locking: Typically, double nuts (main nut + lock nut) or flanged nuts are used to prevent loosening due to long-term vibration.
- Pressure Distribution: Used in conjunction with washers to prevent damage to the concrete or the equipment base plate.
