A double-end stud features threads at both ends with a smooth, unthreaded shank in the middle; one end is screwed into the machine body, while the other is secured with a nut. It is primarily used for thick base components or in situations where installing a standard bolt all the way through is impractical.

Primary function
1. Connecting two thick components
Standard bolts require a through-hole; however, when one workpiece is too thick to drill all the way through, a stud is used: one end is screwed into the threaded hole of the thick component, while the other passes through the second component, secured by a washer and nut.
2. Facilitating disassembly and maintenance
The stud body remains in the base component's threaded hole; only the nut is removed during disassembly, preventing damage to the base threads**. Repeated assembly and disassembly with standard bolts can easily strip or damage the base threads.
3. Withstanding heavy loads and vibration
Widely used in pressure vessels, flanges, equipment housings, cylinder heads, motor bases, and more, they offer superior vibration resistance and anti-loosening capabilities compared to standard bolts, making them ideal for high-temperature or high-vibration equipment.
4. Flange sealing connections
Double-ended studs are extensively used in flange connections to apply uniform pressure on the gasket, ensuring a tight seal that prevents gas or liquid leakage.

Difference from ordinary bolts
Standard bolt: consists of a head and a shank; it passes through two parts and is secured by a nut.
Double-end stud: Has no bolt head and is threaded at both ends; one end screws into the base component, while a nut is threaded onto the other.
Note: When installing the double-ended stud, the end screwed into the base must be fully tightened to ensure there is no looseness; in vibration-prone environments, a spring washer or locking nut is typically used.
